How do you read Morse code? How to interpret the Morse Code Alphabet? Download this Morse Alphabet template now!

Morse code is a communication method of transmitting text information as a series of lights, on-off tones, or clicks that can be directly understood by a skilled Morse code listener or observer without special equipment. The code was invented in 1835 by Samuel Morse and developed with the aim to use them for the telegraph. Morse code is named after Mr. Samuel F. B. Morse, an inventor of the telegraph.

Since with the telegraph you are limited to two options: key down (= current) or key not pressed (= no power) and duration (short or long). Telegraphy is widely regarded as a forerunner of later digital communication.
Morse code was invented to create and interpret messages over electric devices, such as light bulbs, switches, power supply, 3 connecting leads, etc.

They are designed according to the following set of rules:

  • a dash lasts as long as three dots only;
  • space as long as one dot is left between each pulse;
  • space as long as one dash is left between each letter of a word;
  • space as long as 5 dots is left between each word of a sentence.
This Morse Code Alphabet Template explains the Morse code and also explains the Alphabet from A to Z, number 0 to 9, and actions: 'full stop', 'comma', and 'query'.

The International Morse Code encodes the ISO basic Latin alphabet, some extra Latin letters, the Arabic numerals and a small set of punctuation and procedural signals (prosigns) as standardized sequences of short and long signals called "dots" and "dashes", or "dits" and "dahs", as in amateur radio practice. Because many non-English natural languages use more than the 26 Roman letters (A to Z), extensions to the Morse alphabet exist for those languages.

We support you by providing this Morse Alphabet template, which will save your time, cost, and effort! The following three types are explained:

  • American (Morze);
  • Continental (Gerke);
  • International (ITU).

This Morse code chart is intuitive, ready-to-use, and structured in an easy way. Try it now and let this template inspire you. We certainly hope that this Morse Alphabet will fit your needs.
