How to learn to blind type? How to position your hands correctly on the keyboard when typing blind?
- Decide you want to learn type blindly and from now on, you will stop typing using your own “method”.
- Download this Typing practice cheat sheet, print it and keep it close to your computer.
- Search for online lessons that looks fun, ideally in 1 course.
- Try to complete two, ideally three lessons, a week (of each 1 to 1.5 hour).
- Make sure to learn to type in the same rhythm. Typing in the same rhythm means that the time between strokes are created consistently.
- Make sure your body is in the correct body posture.
- Firstly start to aim for accuracy, and not making too many mistakes. Secondly you can work on your speed, after you are able to type blindly (but certainly not aim for this at the start).
- Again: frequency is more important than quantity.
- Don't forget to have fun!
How long does it take to learn blind typing?
When you are devoted to learn to type blind, it will probably take you a few days to learn it (or 8-12 hours). It's better to practice 1 to 1.5 hour each time, 2 to 3 times per week. Also nowadays many games can be found online invented to improve your typing skills.
