INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATION FOR ELECTRICAL WORK 
INSPECTION  REQUIREMENTS  AND  CERTIFICATION  FORM  FOR  ELECTRICAL  WORK  IN 
PARKING  LOTS,  DITCHES,  TRENCHES,  AND  CONCRETE  CONSTRUCTION  ELEMENTS  IN 
NON-RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION AND EXCLUDING SWIMMING POOLS AND HAZARDOUS 
LOCATIONS. 
County inspection is not required for electrical work in concrete floors, decks, slabs-on-grade, block 
walls, and poured concrete walls prior to the actual pouring of concrete and electrical wiring in ditches 
and  trenches  prior  to  concealment,  provided  that  the  wiring  was  in  a  raceway  and  an  equipment 
grounding conductor was pulled in the raceway with the supply conductors. 
In lieu of county inspections, inspections are required to be done by the master electrician of the firm 
which  holds  the  electrical  permit.  The  master  electrician  must  verify  that  the  specific  code  and 
workmanship  practices were followed and  any code  defects  identified subsequent to  the inspection 
are the responsibility of the electrical contractor. 
Verification  must  be  submitted  on  the  attached  County  of  Fairfax  Electrical  Inspection  Report  and 
Certification Form. The master electrician must provide this information within 10 days of installation 
or at least 3 days prior to scheduling final inspection:

The installations comply with the current editions of the 2012 Virginia Uniform Statewide 
Building Code and the 2011 National Electrical Code.
