Dear Mr. Franklin:

I am applying for the Mechanical Engineering position that was posted with Western Kentucky
University’s Career Services Center this week. Based on the requirements for the position, it fits very
well with my education, experience and career interests.

I will receive my B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering this May 2012. I have taken various engineering
courses and have a strong background in math and physics. During my last summer semester, I had the
opportunity to participate in a cooperative education program with a local manufacturing facility. During
my internship, I worked closely with the engineering department, allowing me to apply my knowledge in
a working environment and work hands on with various manufacturing systems and design standards.
My cooperative education experience and position as Team Leader with Bowling Green Motorsports not
only gave me the opportunity to gain real world experience, but more importantly, it confirmed my
decision to work as a mechanical engineer.

Please find my attached resume with additional information about my education, experience and
professional memberships. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my qualifications more fully in
an interview. I can
