Dear Parents,

I can’t believe the new school year is here! I don’t know about all of you, but my summer flew by.
Where did the time go? We will all work on getting into a good routine together so no one has to
worry. I want to send a gentle reminder to bring your child’s school supplies and try to get your
child’s extra clothes in their bags.

In preschool, social-emotional development is what we watch throughout the year. We watch to see
if and how the children are able to communicate and socialize with one another. We also watch how
they react to different situations and help them get work through them if they are having a difficult
time.

The beginning of the school year is always hard to predict with three year olds. Every morning is
different and every child’s behavior could be different from the day before. We are ready to take it
all on.

The day will begin at the tables time activities. They will be placed on the table as the students walk
in. The different manipulatives and educational materials are ready for them to move from activity to
activity. After doing this some time I will transition to circle time on the rug and I will go over
different conceptual materials. We will stay busy, but mix in some dancing and movement so I can
keep their attention. We will then have a potty break before we move onto our gross motor play.
This is dependent on the weather. It could either include a trip to the playground or on rainy days we
can do different activities where we stretch, run and play with balls, scooters or hula hoops. After
this, we will go back to the room and read a story. When finished, I will call students and they will get
their pictures and centers will be open. This is where the students will travel to different areas of the
classroom. Only a certain number of kids can be at the center at once, but they use their pictures to
determine if there is space. They can choose dramatic play, blocks, sensory, art, snack, library, toys
