Dear Mr. Doe:
As a senior Graphic Design major at George Fox University, I am writing to apply for the
Graphic Designer position at Zumiez. I would bring a demonstrated commitment to effective
marketing and branding, proficiency with web design software and design programs, and a
strong desire to learn.
This year as a graphic design intern for George Fox University’s IDEA Center I have had the
chance to practice my skills by creating graphic and written material for marketing campaigns
such as flyers, posters, and advertisements. I also get to collaborate with the team of interns to
research trends and capture student interest on campus. My passion to bring words and images
together for marketing purposes and producing an influential impact will serve Zumiez well. As
a leader in design and marketing, I believe I can bring this passion and desire to learn into every
project.
My marketing and professional writing courses, combined with my previous retail work
experience at Old Navy, have prepared me to combine my skills as a graphic designer with my
interest in customer service and branding. Zumiez’s support of the skiing and snowboarding
industries appeals to me. I grew up snowboarding at Mt. Baker and Steven’s Pass in Washington
and have a strong love and passion for that industry. This experience provides me with a
knowledge of product and culture that are valuable when designing for users. I would be excited
join the Zumiez Design Team and promote their marketing goals.
Thank you for considering me for the Graphic Designer position with Zumiez. Should you desire
additional information such as my portfolio and related qualifications, you may contact me via
email or phone. I look forward to hearing from you, thank you.
Sincerely,
Beth Walker
