Friday, June 27: All Moodle units need to be completed online prior to departure for South Africa.
Sunday, June 29: You make your way to Atlanta Jackson-Hartsfield International Airport today where you
rendezvous with your fellow participants, TA Paul Adolphsen and Professor Judyie Al-Bilali for the group
flight to Johannesburg.
12:00 16:30 Participants arrive individually at Atlanta Jackson-Hartsfield International Airport and make
their way to the group rendezvous point in Concourse E (Caribou Coffee near gate E14)
18:45 Board Delta Airlines flight 200 (see monitors for gate)
19:33 Delta Airlines flight 200 departs for the overnight, trans-Atlantic journey to Johannesburg
Monday, June 30: You arrive in Johannesburg this afternoon and transfer to our hotel. We gather this
evening at a fine local restaurant for a welcome dinner and then retire for a good night’s sleep.
17:00 Delta Airlines flight 200 arrives at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport
18:00 After proceeding through (1) passport control, (2) baggage claims, and (3) customs, you are
greeted by Professor Megan Lewis and Travel Director John Alexander in the arrivals hall
(after customs)
18:30 We stop at ATMs for those who wish to withdraw local currency prior to boarding our
private mini coach to the Garden Court Hotel Sandton City
Cell phones will be distributed on the bus. Please remember to have your $50 deposit
checks (made payable to “Scholarly Sojourns) ready!
19:00 Check in at the Garden Court Hotel followed by time to change clothes and freshen up
19:40 Gather in hotel lobby and walk to The Butcher Shop Restaurant
19:45 Welcome dinner at The Butcher Shop Restaurant (included in course fee)
21:30 Return to hotel and goodnight
