Qualifications:
Graduation from High School or equivalency
North Carolina Plumbing License
Extensive and broad experience in plumbing and/or utility work
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

Essential Job Functions:
1.
, supervises
and assists in activities involving the schools’ plumbing, boiler, hot
water, potable water, and sewer systems
2. Performs skilled and semi-skilled plumbing work in the maintenance and repair of plumbing
systems, equipment, and fixtures.
3. Assigns workers to projects as necessary by workload
4. Meets with vendors and contractors to solicits bids on repair and replacement projects
5. Obtains needed supplies and equipment to complete assigned tasks
6. Performs administrative duties associated with work orders and scheduling staff to ensure
projects are completed
7. Communicates with staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships
8. Evaluates staff in accordance with established policy
9. Inspects boilers and plumbing systems in school facilities
10. Inspects and supervises contractors on plumbing projects
11. Directs and performs a variety of repair or replacement functions related to plumbing, minor
electrical work related to water heaters, wiring of pumps and motors, etc.
12. Repairs and replaces broken water and sewer lines
13. Clears sewer and drain lines, commodes, etc.
14. Maintains, trouble-shoots and repairs boiler systems
15. Directs and assists in the installation of boiler systems
16. Performs maintenance and installation functions associated with all water system equipment
17. Measures, cuts, threads, and assists in the installation of pipes and tubing
18. Repairs and replaces hot water tanks, circulating pumps, etc.
19. Maintains equipment and supplies
20. Repairs and replaces valves and other plumbing components
21. Operates backhoe, trencher, and other equipment as needed
22. Transports equipment to job sites as needed
23. Maintains well and wastewater systems as needed
24. Provides assistance to other crews as needed
25. Responds to after hour emergencies as requested
26. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
