Soccer players and parents:
After eleven great years as head coach of the Lightning Varsity Girls’ Soccer team and
much thought I have decided to resign my head coach’s position. Being a head coach
takes an incredible amount of energy and at this time of my life I believe it is time for
new leadership to take over. This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life.
I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some great players,
parents, and coaches here at Eastview High School. Saying goodbye to my returning
players is the hardest part of all of this, though I know they will move on and do fine
without me, but I will miss the daily contact in the season with some of the finest student
athletes and just great individuals here at EVHS.
Mr. Matt Percival, our athletic director will begin the process to fill my position
immediately. He will seek input from the 2008 captains: Sam Mehr, Marissa Price, and
Kelsey North as well as our Booster Club President: Kathy Schatz. Feel free to share
with any of them any input on the head coach hiring process so they can pass on to Mr.
Percival. Any interested internal candidates as well as qualified external candidates will
be interviewed
In the interim, Coach Herem and I will follow the processes we have in the past. Feel
free to contact either of us with questions and/or concerns.
I want to once again express my appreciation for eleven great years as a head coach.
Building a program from the very beginning here at EVHS has been an opportunity that
few coaches have. I feel fortunate to have been given the chance and blessed to have
been able to work with such outstanding players, parents, coaches, teachers, and
administrators throughout my tenure. I look forward to continuing to watch the program
grow under the new leadership. I look forward to continue being the Lightning Girls’
Soccer program’s number one fan! Thanks again to all for helping make being a varsity
head coach at Eastview one of the great experiences of my life. Go Lightning!
