The objective of writing this letter is to request for early leave. It will mainly depend on the reason you apply for leave, whether or not you want to use a formal intonation. This early leave request will provide several reasons why you might need some extra time off. The reason for early leave need to be summarized and it's also important not to forget a suggest action or course of action to follow is also important. 

When requesting a formal leave of absence, your letter should include:
  • a valid reason;
  • dates you expect to be away from school;

Reasons for a legitimate Leave for School?

  • Calling in Sick, especially when having a contagious illness, such as the common cold or flu;
  • Family issues, such as a sick family member;
  • Severe weather and you live remote;
  • Loss of a family member or loved one;
  • Household emergencies with big impact (water leakage);
  • Severe mental health issues.

Please understand that if you are asking for early leave, for the wrong reasons, this may create bridges of misunderstanding with the teacher or principal. Therefore, we recommend to first, analyze the reason behind the leave and then draft a letter accordingly. Make sure you have taken enough time to inform those who might be affected by your leave, so they can take the appropriate precautions. It is also good to add a declaration from your parents or guardians that they are in consent and accept your request.
